What is it to read fiction but to willingly suspend disbelief? Written and performed by Sanae Oujjit and Samuel Mu Koch during low tide at the bottom of the waddensea in northern holland this site specific reading performance was part of the Breesant Residency 2025. The piece explores the power of fiction, what constitutes a fiction and how fictions constitute historical knowlege. As ghosts of the past, this collaborative writing is a meditation on memory, land and colonial histories, grief and the inaccesabilty of a landscape usually covered in water, deep sea memories. Shaped as a conversation between two books: the Poetics of Relation by Édouard Glissant and Diego Garcia by Natasha Soobramanien and Luke Williams. The performance was live streamed from the bottom of the sea by nah.rip.
